Save your ChatGPT itinerary and share it with others

Save your ChatGPT itinerary in Compi through a connection or guided paste process. Check dates and stays, then share a viewing link with your travel companions.

Save your ChatGPT itinerary in Compi through a configured connection, or use “Paste plan” and the transfer prompt supplied by the app. Check the saved days and accommodation, then create a viewing link with the unlocked travel companion. People opening that link do not need their own ChatGPT or Compi account.

The route is agreed. The accommodation is three replies further down. Somewhere above that is the journey back. Then someone asks, “What are we doing on Wednesday?” This is the point where I'd turn the conversation into one usable travel overview.

If you only want to pass on the conversation, a shared chat link is a different option. This guide covers the organised itinerary in Compi: days, places and accommodation you can find again after the planning conversation.

Choose the route that fits your starting point#

The ChatGPT and Claude connection guide describes the current setup. Availability depends on your AI provider's plan, region and permissions. The guided paste route does not require a direct Compi connection.

For initial planning, children's ages and accommodation areas are enough; full names and complete booking emails are unnecessary. Share personal details deliberately. Your AI provider's privacy and data-use settings apply to the chat; Compi's own processing is described in its privacy policy (German).

Route 1: Save the agreed itinerary through a connection#

Select Compi in the conversation and say clearly whether you want a new trip or a change. Simply mentioning the app does not save anything.

For a new trip, use a request like this:

First show a summary of our latest agreed itinerary: local travel dates, daily activities, places and accommodation. Leave out rejected alternatives. Mark accommodation suggestions as unbooked and missing details as unresolved. Wait for my approval before creating a new trip in Compi. Afterwards, read the saved trip back and list anything missing or not transferred.

Editorial example: A four-day itinerary from 12 to 15 May has three nights. If the plan only accounts for two, show the third as unresolved rather than inventing a hotel.

For later changes: “Read my existing trip [title] first. Move only Wednesday's museum visit to Thursday; keep accommodation unchanged. Show the proposed change before saving.” That is clearer than another request to “create our trip”.

Route 2: Use “Paste plan” without a connection#

This route does not connect the chat directly to your Compi account. The app provides the structure the chat needs to produce:

  1. Open Compi and choose “Paste plan” while adding or connecting a trip.
  2. Copy the supplied prompt into the conversation containing your itinerary.
  3. Ask the chat to answer that prompt. Compi needs a structured data block rather than the usual daily table.
  4. Paste the response back into Compi and choose “Check”.
  5. Check the trip title and displayed entry count. Then choose “Import trip” and inspect the details in the saved itinerary.

This route creates a new trip. Repeating the whole process for every correction can leave you with several versions. Make later changes in the existing trip, directly or through its configured connection.

If Compi cannot recognise the answer, check that you copied the response to Compi's transfer prompt. An ordinary summary, screenshot or introductory sentence does not provide the necessary format.

Compare five things after saving#

After transferring the plan, check these five things:

  • Dates: Do local arrival and departure match? An overnight flight may arrive on a different date from departure.
  • Nights: Is every night accounted for, or clearly left unresolved?
  • Booking status: Are hotel suggestions still unbooked? Only actual reservations should be marked confirmed.
  • Places: Do similarly named stops have the correct town and address?
  • Open questions: Are decisions such as “take the boat trip?” still visible?

The trip check helps identify unresolved points. It does not confirm reservations or replace checking your booking confirmation.

If your destination or daily programme still needs work, start with the five holiday prompts. For journeys with several bases, follow the ChatGPT road trip guide.

Open “Share trip” in your itinerary. Review the preview and available settings, including dates and photos. Open the link yourself before sending it to your companions or family at home.

The link shares the selected itinerary for viewing. Anyone holding it can open or forward it. Keep booking codes, passport details and private notes out of shared content. You can revoke a link you no longer need in the sharing controls.

A viewing link does not grant editing access. Collect any suggested changes and update the same saved trip, so you do not end up travelling with several versions.

Keep the plan ready on your phone#

Before leaving, open the current trip on your travel device. With an unlocked trip, it remains readable offline there. Try aeroplane mode and check that the days and accommodation addresses you need are present. New chat requests and synchronisation need internet; the public link view also needs a connection.

Your first trip currently includes the full travel companion free of charge. You can plan up to two trips as free drafts; further trips need Plus for the full travel companion. Sharing and offline lookup belong to the full travel companion; see Compi's plans and pricing.

Then someone can ask about Wednesday again. This time, one look at the plan gives them the answer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paste an ordinary ChatGPT answer straight into Compi?

Not directly. Use Paste plan in Compi. First copy the transfer prompt provided there into your planning conversation, then paste its response back into Compi and check it before adding the trip.

Do my companions need ChatGPT or a Compi account?

Neither is required for the public viewing link. Anyone with that link can see the travel information you have shared.

Does a shared itinerary work offline?

No, the public viewing link needs internet. You can look up an unlocked trip offline on your own prepared device; new ChatGPT requests also need a connection.

Does sharing cost extra?

Sharing belongs to the unlocked travel companion. Your first trip currently includes the full travel companion free of charge; further trips need Plus for the full travel companion. See the homepage for plans and pricing.
